Marriages Have Secrets

Who said what ever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas? Sometimes the Secrets in a Marriage spill over to the neighborhood, circle of friends, family, workplace, church and yes Hotels with cheating infidelity couples. Why is it we share secrets of marriages with everyone except the spouse in the marriage? Isn’t the Church the place to receive counseling and marital direction when going through serious turmoil? Problem is, some churches can be full of spiritual babies that don’t know how to answer some tough hard in your face questions that some marriages face. Some churches are well equipped to deal with marriage and relational issues, while most lack the foundation and basic structure for sound instructions for couples facing real problems. Telling you to pray and we are praying for you is an easy answer to all marital problems, however they seldom work without getting to the foundation of the Secrets that are occurring in the Marriage.

TWO-YEAR ITCH INFECTS MARRIAGE
COUPLES watching out for the seven-year itch should be on their guard a lot earlier these days. According to research, they are far more likely to separate after about two years of marriage. One in 12 couples is heading for the divorce courts after 24 months - more than double the figure for seven years. From “TWO-YEAR ITCH INFECTS MARRIAGE”
George Barna, president and founder of Barna Research Group, commented:
“While it may be alarming to discover that born again Christians are more likely than others to experience a divorce, that pattern has been in place for quite some time. Even more disturbing, perhaps, is that when those individuals experience a divorce many of them feel their community of faith provides rejection rather than support and healing. But the research also raises questions regarding the effectiveness of how churches minister to families. The ultimate responsibility for a marriage belongs to the husband and wife, but the high incidence of divorce within the Christian community challenges the idea that churches provide truly practical and life-changing support for marriages.”
11% of the adult population is currently divorced.
25% of adults have had at least one divorce during their lifetime.
Divorce rates among conservative Christians were significantly higher than for other faith groups, and much higher than Atheists and the Agnostics experience. (Research done in 2004)
